Remove a

old physical MEV

Step 1
Data backup

Make sure you back up all the data on your old SRM before you take it out of service.

You are required to keep this data for a minimum of 7 years.

Inform Revenu Québec of your intention to decommission the old MEV, and make sure you comply with all applicable guidelines and regulations.

Step 2
Notification

Step 3
Disconnect

(Already disconnected with migration to MEV-WEB) Disconnect the old MEV from all systems, including the POS system and any associated equipment.

Step 4
Data deletion

Erase all data from the SRM in accordance with Revenu Québec and SRM manufacturer guidelines, ensuring that no sensitive or financial data is accessible.

Step 5
Return or disposal

Dispose of it safely in accordance with Revenu Québec guidelines and local laws on electronic waste disposal.

What do we do with the old SRMs?

Step 1
Check your WEB-SRM

Once your new system with WEB-SRM is installed, check that the transactions are actually going to Revenu Québec.

To do this, go to Clic Secure, Mon dossier entreprise and you'll be able to view your MEV-WEB transactions. Once you've confirmed that your sales transactions are going to Revenu Québec and that everything is working properly, move on to the next step.

By deactivating the SRM, you will be able to produce the SPV for the month not yet completed. You can do this yourself, or ask a technician to do it on site if you supply your codes.*

* Fees may apply.

Step 2
Disable SRMs

Step 3
Transmit your latest SPVs

Transmit your latest SPVs by USB key via clicSÉQUR is the best option. If you wish to print your SPVs, you will need to reconnect a printer to the MEV.

Please note! Revenu Québec requires the transmission of all SPVs, including the one for the current month in which you switched to MEV-WEB. This is your responsibility!

Step 6
Recycle your SRM

A recovery program is available and Revenu Québec will send you a return pouch. Transport costs are paid by Revenu Québec.

Click on the following link to participate in the program: https://www.revenuquebec.ca/en/businesses/sector-specific-measures/mandatory-billing/mandatory-billing-restaurant-sector/mandatory-billing-srm-users/srm-recycling-program-mandatory-billing/

Step 4
Take back-up copies of SRMs

This step is mandatory: you'll need a USB key, and we'll need to take a security copy of each SRM. These backup copies must be kept for 6 years, according to Revenu Québec. You can do this yourself, or have the technician do it for you*.

* Fees may apply.

Step 5
Reset each SRM

Delete everything in the SRM. This will ensure that no one else can access the data in the SRM. You can do this yourself by calling Revenu Québec, or have the technician do it for you*.

* Fees may apply.
