WEB-SRM: Changes, challenges and solutions for restaurateurs
With the arrival of the WEB-SRM, the Quebec restaurant industry is on the cusp of a major digital transformation. In a field where innovation is the key to success, PayFacto stands out not only as a pioneer, but also as a strategic partner for restaurateurs facing these changes. Thanks to close collaboration with Revenu Québec from the outset of the project, PayFacto has positioned itself as a reliable partner in the transition to a secure digital transaction system. Danny Roy, Executive Vice President, POS Strategy at PayFacto, gives us an insight into the current transition and the challenges it entails.
What Is the WEB-SRM?
WEB-SRM is a cloud-based technological solution that modernizes the traditional sales recording module (SRM). To find out more about this new system and its advantages, we invite you to read our article entitledAre you ready for the arrival of WEB-SRM?
PayFacto's Involvement in the Pilot Project
PayFacto was not only involved in Revenu Québec's pilot project, but also played an active role in the evolution of the specifications for the new sales recording module. Despite the challenges arising from constantly changing criteria, the company invested heavily, both in terms of time and financial resources, to develop a robust and adaptable platform.
As the first to achieve certification, PayFacto, with its Maitre'D and Veloce POS software, is committed to meeting upgrade deadlines and delivering consistently approved software. This promise is a testament to our dedication to our customers and to staying at the cutting edge of technology.
According to Danny Roy, working closely with Revenu Québec has resulted in a solution that maintains the control required by the tax authority, while avoiding disruption to restaurateurs' day-to-day operations. However, the continuous updating of the platform can be a challenge for some businesses, particularly if their current hardware is not powerful enough or if they are not used to regular updates. What's more, a late migration to WEB-SRM could cause a bottleneck, with possible consequences for a restaurant's workflow.
"The WEB-SRM is likely to be an additional stress for restaurateurs, as some are not used to updating their IT equipment, as it wasn't necessary before. With the introduction of a technology requiring regular updates, some businesses may find themselves having to renew their equipment in order to comply with the requirements of this new technology," says Mr. Roy.
The Benefits of Immediate Action
The government has announced the arrival of WEB-SRM in 2020, and although some restaurateurs have adopted a wait-and-see attitude, PayFacto strongly recommends not delaying the migration.
"The move to WEB-SRM represents an opportunity for all our customers. It offers an ideal opportunity to modernize their current equipment, and to do so cost-effectively. We have put in place a variety of promotions and flexible options to support everyone in this necessary transition. We encourage proactive action to take advantage of these offers, avoiding last-minute haste and the possible associated extra costs. Our aim is to facilitate this legal update, without stress, and with the constant support of our team," shares Danny Roy.
The PayFacto philosophy
PayFacto's vision of POS solutions is holistic, aiming to deliver a seamless migration experience from start to finish.
Danny Roy points out that "PayFacto is a one-stop shop for all your point-of-sale needs: innovative, robust and high-performance software, point-of-sale equipment, on-site service, comprehensive training... the entire solution that encompasses the point-of-sale system is provided."
As the Vice President explains, the company doesn't just supply a single element; it offers a complete suite encompassing all the components required for an optimally functioning point-of-sale system. This comprehensive approach ensures that restaurateurs have access to all the hardware they need, seamlessly integrated for efficient management of their operations.
This commitment to convenience and efficiency continues with the versatility of PayFacto's Veloce platform, which shines through in its ability to adapt to a variety of technological environments.
"One of the big advantages with Veloce is that it works cross-platform. If a customer wants to change their POS provider, whether it's a Windows, Android or Apple system, we can migrate them. The cross-platform support offered by our MEV-WEB solution means significant savings in terms of equipment investment," concludes Danny Roy.
